Aurora Nights

I felt like I had talked myself into buying a 28mm once I'd gotten shot of the 35mm Summicron. Alas, the 28 Nokton was a bit more pricey than the 35 Nokton... and I'm really in no position to be flitting money away so opted to stick to what I know for now. A sensible choice that is probably long overdue.

Bryan mentioned the possibility of going out late yesterday evening, and I haven't seen in him an age so I jumped at the chance to just go out. Grabbed a tripod and we attempted some long exposures. Definitely a change of pace from the consistently on the move street shooting.

We drove a little out of town by the river, and caught the aurora. It's worth pointing out that there was zero prep with these locations, and where we ended up was almost entirely pitch black aside from the distant lights. So it was very much a 'shoot and see' in regards to the compositions!

They'll not be winning any awards any time soon, but it was still a fun experience.

Found a nice liminal tunnel, too. Though I was rushing myself at this point, and didn't clock that you can see through the other side of it - I feel it'd have a bit more of liminal/mystereous edge to it if you can't see where the tunnel ends.

The last photo I'd hoped to be more minimal, but the lights look absolutely wild, I'd have deleted it on the spot but I just wanted to share it for how fucking chaotic it looks.

And that's it... first outing with the new lens!
