Abandoned St Peter’s Seminary with Vee

The seminary is probably one of the more easily accessible abandoned places local to me which is likely why I’ve visited it so much over the years. You can drive a stones throw away in car, or get the train to Cardross and walk through the village and up the wee farm tracks for about 30 minutes.

It’s not uncommon for entire families to visit this place, and from previous experiences I’ve only ever met nice folks up there.

My pal Michael had arranged a photoshoot with Vee at the Seminary, and I was asked to tag along.

I’ve been wanting to use my video rig a little more, so I’m sort of tagging along with Michael and shooting loose ‘behind the scenes’ video - I’m unsure exactly how I’m going to put what I got together yet, but I think I’ll head out with Michael a few more times and do a mash up of the shoots. It’ll all fall into place eventually.

Of course I didn’t just take the video rig though. I had some FP4 to get through on my M6 so I also shot a few stills on the go. It’s a long time since I photographed someone this way!

These sunglasses are fucking excellent. I need them.

In the lower levels of the seminary it’s almost total darkness and using a low ISO film handheld was borderline idiotic, but Michael was using some wee LED lights for his photos so I just exposed for those and hoped for the best. Let the shadows fall where they may. Bags of contrast - Love it.

There was a couple of smoke bombs which I was tasked with starting.

And that’s that, I guess. I’ll likely share some alternate photos along with some of Michaels photos in whatever video I come up with on my youtube later.

If you have Instagram then you can get Michael here and Vee here.

All photos taken with Leica M6 + 35 1.4 Nokton + Ilford FP4 at 200

All film developed and scanned at Gulabi in Glasgow.
