Stopping SERCO Evictions

This morning I attended an anti-Serco vigil to stand in solidarity and, if needed, to physically prevent an eviction of a woman refugee who had been told to vacate her flat despite an ongoing legal case by the 25th June.

"This multibillion pound company will not make our neighbours and friends homeless, and we will demonstrate alongside each other if they try."

If you're on Facebook, please join us on the Glasgow No Evictions Campaign to keep up to date and to spread the word. Also, if you're a Glasgow resident join Living Rent Tenants' Union.

"Living Rent is going on the offensive to stop SERCO’s plans to evict 300 tenants from their homes in our city. The company has made millions of pounds providing housing to people in the immigration system, often in squalid conditions, while engaging in constant harassment and intimidation. Last summer, Glasgow came together to force SERCO to halt their eviction plans but after months of legal battles, evictions are set to restart at any moment. Hundreds of people are now threatened with homelessness and destitution on our streets in the pursuit of profit."

Lock SERCO out of Glasgow - Event

Almost as soon as we'd arrived, we received word that Serco were aware of our presence and the Housing Association informed us that the tenancy was safe for now.
