California, Part 1: Los Angeles

I’m kinda in disbelief that I got back from California over a month ago and I still haven’t really posted about it. I didn’t really know how to go about writing this, and putting it together with photos so I’ve decided to just split it into sections. This part focusing on LA.

I flew over to see my friend Amber. She moved there a few years ago after we met in Prague studying a TEFL course. As she visited Glasgow a couple summers back, it was my turn to go see her. Amber messaged me one night telling me to head to LA and that night I had a little money for a change and by some miracle found some flights for a fucking steal so just threw my money at it.

I'd figure the rest out later.

The inflight photos include views over Reykjavik, Godhaven, Qikiqtarjuag, and Big Sand Lake at around 11,000 meters.

Though to be honest I’m not sure what I’ve included here.

LA is huge, and my photos barely scratch the surface. The areas mostly covered here are North Hollywood, Echo Park, Venice Beach, oh and Century City because I had to drive by the Nakatomi Plaza.

For a city population of almost 4 million with 27,000 people per square mile, I'm quite surprised how few people are in the majority of my photos. It was surprisingly easy to keep myself to myself, and that's one of the things I liked so much about the city.

The planes flying overhead were constant. Almost calming, in a way.

We barely drank during the whole trip, but there may have been a night or two it happened...

Hands down the most refreshing icelolly I've ever had. Lime is the one right now. The place also did a cheese icelolly, but I gave that a miss.

Apparently it was relatively cool for this time of year, but if it were any hotter I'd have been in serious bother. Walking up to the Hollywood Sign without a bottle of water was certainly a mistake.

I'd like to say I learned from that, but I ended up in a desert without water later in the trip.
