Countryside nudes with JAZZebell_

It’s been almost 2 months since I took photos of JAZZebell_ in Wales. She’s spending most of her time in and around Bristol now but she managed to take a few days out to come up north.

I’d been on with a few things so we weren’t really sure if we were gonna get chance to meet for a catch up, but we did, and that is why you are reading this blog.

We took a walk around the town hunting down vegan cakes and took some time out on the beach.

Dalby Forest.

I haven’t actively been out to take photos since Wales and yesterday was the first time I actually felt like picking up my camera since then. I found a double that I forgot I had laying around of the lens I threw in the sea, so that was a nice surprise, but my 18 f2 is still missing…

I headed to meet Robyn and the dogs with the 35.

It was pissing it down when I set off, but the sun came out in full force by the time we were walking.

I took a bunch of photos and only got a handful that are passable for the blog, but I’m not gonna dwell on that because at least I’m getting out again.

Portraits: Robyn

My typical style of photography is very much just in the moment, and there’s very little thought behind anything I do other than documenting what it is I’m doing at that moment.

With me feeling shite about a ton of my photos lately I felt like I needed to get out and actually try for a change, and figured a good way to do that would be just focusing on portraits… probably inspired somewhat by my pal Stephen who’s on a portrait binge right now (so if dreamy and incredibly vibrant photos are your bag, then look no further).

A couple of years ago, I used to lurk certain popular photography groups on Facebook with Robyn, and we’d often pass the time private messaging each other losing our minds at how pretentious and precious a lot of the local photographers were about their photographs and techniques and also how much they lost their shit at the site of poppy fields.

Anyway, Robyn had just dyed her hair the most magnificent bright orange the night before we took these photos and there just so happened to be a poppy field on the way to my house. It was too good to resist.

I’ve done plenty of portraits in the past, but it’s not something I do on the regular so I think they can be a bit hit and miss. I just so happen to be quite happy with all these.

All shot wide open on the Fuji 35mm f2 and an old Pentax 50mm f1.7.

Boggle Hole & Flamborough Head

I was due to head out with Debby for the day to go exploring some woodland but our plans were altered slightly as she’d gotten an injured baby pigeon and that we were gonna have to take it to the Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary.

I’d never seen a baby pigeon before. And for some reason I didn’t take a photo of it, but rest assured they don’t look very pigeon like at all and just look a bit… odd.

After a little mix up with the address (Google lists the location as some blokes house near by, and he’s kinda pissed about people taking dead Hedgehogs his way expecting him to bring them back to life) we headed back and called at Boggle Hole!

Walking my brain back together.

Just taking a short break from writing about the hitching adventure at the moment to focus on a few things I’ve done this past week since being back in Scarborough. Also because I want to post at least once before the end of the month as I have been a bit quiet recently. This is probably going to be a pretty long post but then again I don’t think I’ve had a short post for a while so I guess you’re either used to it or are just happy reading the first half and leaving.

The hitching tour ended for me in Manchester, and I managed to find a bus I could get for free the majority of the way home to Scarborough. Not bad.

The morning after I got back I did a short section of the wolds way walk with my parents.

The One With All The Dog Walking

I’m out on the regular with Robyn and I take a lot of photos, but as I never got chance to post the last lot here’s a two-in-one sorta deal. Besides, looking at photos of dogs is hardly the worst thing in the world.

On Saturday morning Robyn asked if I wanted to go out with the dogs. I was supposed to be charging my spare batteries as I was working the evening so had to turn it down, but shortly after that the power to the village went out and so I was stuck in doors not doing anything. I guess I just had to go out then. So out she came with her dogs, complete with pyjamas.
