Hogmanay 2018

Heading out for the Blythe Hogmanay Bash is a tradition I’m ok with, and this year I wasn’t tied into working in a club for the countdown so I got to spend the entire night with friends rather than doing it in two parts.

I didn’t take as many photos as I normally would which is unusual, but then again Stephen didn’t take a single photo despite having his camera round his neck most of the night…

First shoot of 2018 with JAZZebell_ (…obviously)

I ended 2017 by moving flat 3 times in the space of 7 weeks, and right now after two weeks of that Christmas/New Year lark I’m gearing up to move for a 4th. Despite this, I’ve tried to not let it get to me too much and focused when I could on getting out and taking photos.

So in an attempt to keep on with the momentum that arrived in the back end of 2017, and despite being absurdly hungover, I stepped out of the flat with Jazz to shoot in the corridor on the 1st.

Granted, the shoot took all of five minutes, but at least we did something.

Blythe Hogmanay House Party & Cathouse with Jesse Leach

In a way, last night marked the end of my first year in Glasgow. I didn’t technically move up until the start of February, but it was Hogmanay last year that cemented my desire to move to the city and make a go of it. It was also the first night I worked in the Cathouse.

Stephen and Grace hosted another Blythe Hogmanay in their flat.

New Years in Glasgow & Edinburgh

Being home for New Year has never been a big deal to me, and after spending it in Berlin for 2013 I thought it’d be cool to make sure I was somewhere new for it each year and 2014 saw me celebrating in Prague, and this year I spent it in Glasgow… So far so good!

My pals Stephen & Grace invited me up to their house party and it turned out I’d manage to get a couple hours work in the Cathouse taking photos too – which helped me justify the money spent on travel and booze…

& Stephen posted a blog about the party here: http://allmyfriendsarejpegs.com/2016/01/02/hogmanay-2015/

New Years day itself for me involved a breakfast Cider and trying to will myself to keep up with Grace’s Bloody Mary consumption when in actual fact I couldn’t manage it at all and instead drifted in and out of sleep while trying to watch Making A Murderer before heading out for a curry with everybody on the evening…
