Adventures in 35mm

I’ve not really been taking my digital camera out with me as often as usual. Maybe it’s because I’ve been doing a lot more shoots, so it’s feeling somewhat of a chore now – I don’t know.  Though I have been carrying around a wee Halina point and shoot 35mm camera almost daily, and snapping whatever I find interesting.

I’ve got a ton of old 35mm waiting to be processed, and I got a couple of those rolls developed too so a couple frames of those have made their way below, but most photos from the past couple weeks.

Because of this, I’ve created a new instagram primarily for my 35mm photos. You can follow that here. I am feeling enthused for a change so will probably enjoy using this instagram for around another week before I start to hate on it. So get it while it’s hot.

Right, here’s a selection of photos I dig for whatever reason, along with a couple of fuck ups because that’s the beauty of film, right?

A Pro-Lifer in Glasgow’s West End

I finished my chips and left the cafe, and in a shop doorway two doors down was a woman in tears. I asked her what was up and she said a man had just approached her to tell her that abortion is wrong, before moving on. She told me he left her questioning if she was actually a bad person.

He was away down the road, talking to someone else. I asked him what he thought he was playing at, and he instantly got on the defence with “it’s just my opinion!”. I told him I thought his opinion was bullshit, and he needed to mind his own business if he can’t begin to understand the complexities that come with women reaching decisions like that. He said he was sorry, but it didn’t feel sincere. It felt like someone backing down, and not because he made some woman cry, but because he didn’t expect a man of my size to object to his bullshit and call him out on it. TOPLESS TUESDAY: Cemetery

010_10
015_15

I had some film to use up and what better way than to get a bit daft in the cemetery.

We deemed it appropriate to shoot at the exact spot me and Iain got beaten up a few years back due to being insanely drunk and confused on a 2.5 litres homemade cocktail of Sangria and Tennents Super.

Scarborough Castle

Here’s part of my towns Castle. It got shafted a bit in the war, but it’s still standing. I’ve only ever been in the actual grounds once by blagging myself in for free as part of a film crew many years ago.

Besides, I prefer the views from around it where the castle is included too. I don’t see the point looking out from it… there’s plenty of other bits of the cliff to stand on, and you don’t get charged for that.
