Hog Wild: A look at recording on the cheap.

When I moved back to Glasgow I didn’t have anywhere to move to, so I crashed on Stephen’s sofa for a week. Being a couple of musicians that are always ready to get a new project underway we started recording ideas, and in passing them back and forth we quickly determined our roles; Stephen would handle vocals and synths, and I’d do guitar/bass and drums.

The first track ‘Big Mistake’ came together quickly and off the back of that we decided to write and record an EP, but made the decision to limit ourselves to 7 days. Continue reading “Hog Wild: A look at recording on the cheap.”

Hogmanay 2018

Heading out for the Blythe Hogmanay Bash is a tradition I’m ok with, and this year I wasn’t tied into working in a club for the countdown so I got to spend the entire night with friends rather than doing it in two parts.

I didn’t take as many photos as I normally would which is unusual, but then again Stephen didn’t take a single photo despite having his camera round his neck most of the night…

Whitby Animal Sanctuary just rescued 1,383 hens and they need your help

Robyn, who I spend like a million hours walking dogs with on the regular, volunteers for the Whitby Wild Sanctuary and a few nights ago assisted the sanctuary in the rescue of 1,383 hens. They started at 10pm and worked through until 5am.

The sanctuary are trying to re-home as many as they can, and the amount of food they’re going to be needing over the next few weeks has obviously gone up considerably, so if you’re able to help them out with a donation then please get in touch right here and follow the instructions.

I spent a day volunteering with Robyn back in October and I took my camera along to document it. We watered and fed all the animals while other volunteers took care of other duties around the site.

Annoyingly I hadn’t gotten around to sharing photos from the day but as the Sanctuary needs your help right now this is probably a good a time as any for me to do that and show you just some of the injured/abandoned animals they care for.

DubRocca (Keir Rizzo Cawley) steals from hardworking Yorkshire based Promoter & DJ Dom Roffey.

Change of pace for a second here but I’ve noticed a Dom Roffey, a fellow musician I’m connected with on Facebook, going through the shit right now.

Keir Rizzo Cawley aka DubRocca managed to pull off a fairly elaborate scam that’s resulted in Dom being down both a pair of Adam A77X studio monitors and £1,500 out of pocket. Let’s get a close up of Keir and his Facebook Page.

Heather (fairydolittle), Glasgow

I haven’t gotten around to posting about my new flat yet. To be honest I wouldn’t say the flat is interesting enough to have a blog all for itself but I’m eventually gonna do something which includes the area I’m now living in.

Since I moved in I’ve been busy trying to get furniture together and setting up the bills and council tax etc, and right now I am waiting for builders to fit a new bathroom and I think tomorrow I’m due carpets to be fitted… It’s coming together slowly, and at least I have lights now and I’m no longer sleeping on the floor.

Heather-6

Heather visited me the other day, and we had a catch up and took some photos. I’m gonna share a few below but you really should sign up to my OnlyFans to check them all out (seriously, there’s over 100 from this set alone). Heather was going to bring some clothes except they hadn’t dried properly and she prefers being naked anyway so that wasn’t a problem, and she did bring some strip lights that switched regularly between colours… So we put those to use.

I’ve missed having my own space since I was last living in Glasgow, and it’s nice to finally have a somewhere that friends can come and go anytime they like again.

Heather-16

As it stands, the flat is pretty much a blank canvas right now. So I’m probably going to be taking photos of people here for a while as it slowly transforms. It’ll be nice to look back on as the flat develops.

Anyway, here’s the photos. Continue reading “Heather (fairydolittle), Glasgow”

Vennart: King Tut’s, Glasgow

I’d been planning on catching Vennart on tour since it was announced, though was never in a position to bag myself a ticket. As it happened, I moved back to Glasgow the week before the Tut’s show but was still broke and couldn’t afford it.

I was ready to accept that I wasn’t going to make it this time round, but on the morning threw out a tweet basically saying that if anyone had a spare ticket I’d be eternally grateful. Vennart RT’d it, and within a few minutes a guy called Kenny got in touch to say his friend could no longer make it and that it’d be a shame for the ticket to go to waste.

Sorted.

It’s no stretch to say that this year has been a difficult one for me, but one constant aid to me coping was/is the music from this man. I took my camera along, and managed to grab a few photos of one of my heroes. A truly incredible show.

Here’s a selection.
