Glasgow Necropolis & Car Parks with A.

Been slacking way too much on the blog front so getting right back into it with a few photos of A.

A-5

I hadn’t seen A since she came over to shoot all the valentine’s stuff a couple months ago.

I’m broke since getting back from the states, so I’m limited to getting around by foot which probably is only going to do good things for me since I really need to be more active right now. I walked into the centre to meet her, and we headed to the necropolis.

Catty Friday.

I didn’t feel like I was going to go out, but I also hadn’t seen Emily in a little while either. Emily was going out with her pals and I didn’t want to be tagging along on me tod so I fired Bryan a message to see if he was free. He was.

There’s definitely something to be said for just accepting invitations out and rolling with the night. Sometimes the chaos is needed, and that’s exactly how Friday ended up. I had a bloody good time with good people.

I took my camera out and barely used it, so here’s a bunch of photos I probably didn’t take. Who knows? I’m just going to blame Emily & Bryan anyway and it’s my blog so I can write what I want.

Adventures in 35mm

I’ve not really been taking my digital camera out with me as often as usual. Maybe it’s because I’ve been doing a lot more shoots, so it’s feeling somewhat of a chore now – I don’t know.  Though I have been carrying around a wee Halina point and shoot 35mm camera almost daily, and snapping whatever I find interesting.

I’ve got a ton of old 35mm waiting to be processed, and I got a couple of those rolls developed too so a couple frames of those have made their way below, but most photos from the past couple weeks.

Because of this, I’ve created a new instagram primarily for my 35mm photos. You can follow that here. I am feeling enthused for a change so will probably enjoy using this instagram for around another week before I start to hate on it. So get it while it’s hot.

Right, here’s a selection of photos I dig for whatever reason, along with a couple of fuck ups because that’s the beauty of film, right?

A Pro-Lifer in Glasgow’s West End

I finished my chips and left the cafe, and in a shop doorway two doors down was a woman in tears. I asked her what was up and she said a man had just approached her to tell her that abortion is wrong, before moving on. She told me he left her questioning if she was actually a bad person.

He was away down the road, talking to someone else. I asked him what he thought he was playing at, and he instantly got on the defence with “it’s just my opinion!”. I told him I thought his opinion was bullshit, and he needed to mind his own business if he can’t begin to understand the complexities that come with women reaching decisions like that. He said he was sorry, but it didn’t feel sincere. It felt like someone backing down, and not because he made some woman cry, but because he didn’t expect a man of my size to object to his bullshit and call him out on it. Laura & Jeffels visit Glasgow

The last time Jeffels was in Glasgow we were living together in a flat, until the dodgy dealings between our letting agents at Countrywide and the (at the time, unregistered) Landlord’s resulted in us being evicting to cover their backs.

Fast forward a year and a bit and looking back it’s probably for the best it happened. I mean, being made homeless wasn’t exactly ideal but Jeffels returned to York and shortly after met Laura, and I went off and did my own thing until I was able to get myself sorted in another flat. Gotta just deal with it and keep yourself occupied.

Laura & Jeffels arrived on the Friday evening which meant a few quick drinks at mine before heading straight out to Catty.

Imogen, Scarborough Castle

Similar to most connections on Facebook, people end up being added through occasional interactions over mutual friends posts, and I guess that’s how I connected with Imogen. It was a fairly long time until we actually met in person, and that was just a chance passing some point last year with Jazz. That said, we had loosely arranged to try and get together to take photos sometime before that, but for whatever reason it never happened.

When I was visiting the other week, Imogen dropped me a message out of the blue and said she’d be down to do some photos now I was around again. I had a free morning before having to go take photos of my pal Alastair, and so that was set.

Jemma & Jake Engagement Night

I’ve neglected the blog a little as the past few weeks I’ve been up and down the country, and recording & mixing a new release for Closet Organ with what feels like a million things in between.

Though the dust is starting to settle now, and I’ve made the time to plough through some photos for a bit of a catch up.

The main reason I went back down to Scarborough a few weeks ago was because my friends Jemma & Jake are getting married, and they threw a wee engagement party. Fair to say they’ve hardly been having a fun time lately, so having a night at theirs for them with friends and family over was more than deserved.
