To Wales and back.

I haven’t posted an actual blog in a long while, and it’s not for lack of doing things to write about. I’ve been all over… had another stint in Prague and covered a festival and hung out with friends, then back in the UK I travelled to Sunderland and Newcastle to shoot and catch up with various friends while also attending a wedding, and also visited Wales. There’s more things in between too, I’m sure. But I’m just having a massively shit time right now, though I feel like I should probably at least post something rather than ignore everything forever.

I’m gonna start with my recent trip to Wales.

The photographer Jazz was travelling down to work with went well out of his way to accommodate us, picking us up and driving us around, and even let us crash in his family home for the few days we were there – his wife even prepared us some vegan meals for our stay. Dynamite.

On the road

We spent a day by the beach, and I found a washed up Jellyfish. It was huge.

Goodbye Patreon, Hello OnlyFans.

A message I left over on my Patreon before leaving:

A huge thank you to current and former patrons for taking the time to support me and my photography since opening this account in April 2017.

The financial help has added up significantly over the past 15 months and without you, I simply wouldn’t have been able to take care of the things I have month-by-month in order to travel to the places I have done.

I’ve travelled literal thousands of miles, photographed so many people, and had more rad experiences than I can count.

My decision to leave Patreon has come due to the increasing pressure models and sex workers face making it difficult for them to earn a living without their accounts being suspended/terminated with zero notice, and I’m standing with them in solidarity and ditching this platform due to their ties with PayPal.

I’m starting over, which means my funds are back to zero.

This is where OnlyFans comes in, and if you’re quick you can snap access up for an introductory rate of $5 while I get things running!

As you’re familiar with here, OnlyFans is a rolling subscription, charged monthly and you are free to cancel whenever you like. Importantly, the 5,400+ photos on my private blog are still available to you, and when you sign up to OnlyFans you’ll receive the new password!

From here on out, I will continue to update the b-sides blog and you will receive all new content notifications via OnlyFans.

I hope you’ll join me.

Thanks!

Steve Rawlz / Steve Rolt, a former student of Edinburgh Napier University. You’re getting a blog all to yourself.

You recently subscribed to my Patreon for a few days, which was adequate time to acquire the passwords to my exclusive content before leaving without paying. This itself isn’t uncommon, but what got me was after a little digging, you’re supposed to be a photographer. You should know then, along with the models we work with, just how hard it is to do what we do and get any sort of income from it (and it’s not like my photo blog isn’t free for all or anything).

Except you’re not really a photographer, are you?

Not only are you a detestable entitled moron that deems it ok to steal content for your own personal seedy wank bank, you actively take models for granted.

“He came to one of my agency studio days, was super fucking creepy and took some of the worst pictures of me of my entire career”

“He was such a fucking creep. He tried to take sneaky photos of my underwear and made me so uncomfortable”

You’ve also been described as an “old, balding, sweaty heavy mouth-breather”. What a way to fight the creepy photographer stereotype… you utter shit fountain.

STEVE

Keep the money you owe me. Being able to warn models away from you is enough.

Four More Years.

Whenever I leave the country I do my best to fly from Gatwick. My friend Abby lives just a 10 minute drive from it, and going to stay with her for a few days before/after my flights means I get to hang out with her for a decent amount of time while also breaking up my journey a little as I don’t get to travel south as much as I’d like to.

Jazz also happened to be in the area, so she made her way over to Crawley and hung out with us for a couple of days.

The heat was stupid. So I spent the majority of my time looking for the next shady spot to sit for a minute which also coincided nicely with just letting Jazz do her Jazz things.

Abby picked us up from the hotel we were staying in, and we drove to Tilgate Park for a picnic as the sun set.

After the picnic we had a late drive out to the south coast stopping at Lancing Beach as midnight hit, marking Abby being 4 years sober. She’s nailing it. It was dark and I didn’t take my flash and so there’s very little photos but here’s a couple from when we visited again during the afternoon a couple days later.

It was rad to hang with Abby for a few days, especially the day we drove out to Ashdown Forest and just laid in the trees away from everything. Well, as away from everything as you can be until a people in a hot air balloon decide to drop in the field next to you. I weirdly have no photos of that. What am I even doing anymore?

Next stop, Prague!

If you like these photos on this blog then there’s even more over on my Patreon for only $7.50 (along with another 5,000+ photos from my adventures) – So go and sign up so I can pay my way in life.

Just walk.

I’m making my way south tomorrow to spend time with a couple of friends before I fly out to Prague on Tuesday for a week.

I’ll be taking my laptop with me and undoubtedly won’t be able to help writing about something and posting some photos while I’m away, but just incase I don’t get chance I’m gonna leave a selection of photos from a couple of recent days out to Goathland with Debby, and Broxa with Robyn. Two rad humans that are down for getting out and walking on the regular.

I can’t stress enough the importance of dragging yer sorry arse out for some time in the sun, or even if the weather is shitty – Honestly, it does you the world of fucking good.

Not just mentally, either. In the past few months of aimlessly roaming about I’ve just weighed in at 19 stone which means I’m 2 stone closer to my target weight. And it’s nice to hate yourself just a little less than usual. Not bad, for a lazy piece of trash eh!

Anyway, photos. GO!

Portraits: Robyn

My typical style of photography is very much just in the moment, and there’s very little thought behind anything I do other than documenting what it is I’m doing at that moment.

With me feeling shite about a ton of my photos lately I felt like I needed to get out and actually try for a change, and figured a good way to do that would be just focusing on portraits… probably inspired somewhat by my pal Stephen who’s on a portrait binge right now (so if dreamy and incredibly vibrant photos are your bag, then look no further).

A couple of years ago, I used to lurk certain popular photography groups on Facebook with Robyn, and we’d often pass the time private messaging each other losing our minds at how pretentious and precious a lot of the local photographers were about their photographs and techniques and also how much they lost their shit at the site of poppy fields.

Anyway, Robyn had just dyed her hair the most magnificent bright orange the night before we took these photos and there just so happened to be a poppy field on the way to my house. It was too good to resist.

I’ve done plenty of portraits in the past, but it’s not something I do on the regular so I think they can be a bit hit and miss. I just so happen to be quite happy with all these.

All shot wide open on the Fuji 35mm f2 and an old Pentax 50mm f1.7.
